How it Works

What does the the laser do?

Microfractional skin resurfacing uses a therapeutic matrix of tiny beams of light energy each about the size of the period at the end of a sentence. It targets the top and mid-layers of the skin with minimal discomfort while delivering powerful results without the harsh side effects and downtime of traditional CO2 resurfacing.

Patients typically see a 40%-60% improvement in the quality of their skin! Microfractional skin resurfacing provides the benefit of traditional, full-service CO2 laser treatment without general anesthesia, pain, and prolonged downtime.

BEFORE

You’ll meet with the doctor to discuss which areas of your skin will benefit most. We’ll answer any questions you may have, explain the results you can expect, and may prescribe medication prior to treatment, if needed.

TREATMENT

The MiXto SX Laser Treatment is done in the comfort of our relaxing office. We will apply prescription topical anesthetic to the area approximately 30 minutes prior to treatment to reduce discomfort during the procedure.

AFTER

You will feel a slight burning sensation similar to a bad sunburn. This may last anywhere from 30 minutes to 3 hours. Your skin will show a fine pinpoint-like pattern as a result of the therapeutic beams.

Process of Recovery

DAY 1-2

The fine pinpoint pattern will begin to disappear and the skin will have a dark tanned look.

DAY 3-4

The top layer of skin will begin to peel during normal washing, revealing newly rejuvenated skin with improved color and texture.

DAY 5-6

In most cases, your skin will have completed the peeling process. It will have a slight pink color which will fade in a few days. At this point, you may use make-up or sunblock on your skin. It is important to avoid prolonged sun exposure for at least 3 months.

FAQs

Does it hurt?

The pain is different for every person. Some say it is not painful, while others have mild to moderate discomfort. A prescription topical anesthetic is applied to the area prior to treatment to reduce pain during the procedure.

What areas can I have treated?

Though the treatment is most often applied to the face and neck, it can also be used on the chest, arms, and hands.

When will I see results?

Right away! During the procedure, skin contraction and shrinking are visible. You will see further improvements in color and texture when the skin is completely peeled. You will continue to see results for 6 months with new collagen regeneration that plumps up the skin.

How many treatments are needed?

Typically, only one! You can also opt for two or more treatments for even better results for deeper wrinkles and acne scars.

Who is the best candidate for this procedure?

The microfractional treatment applies best to three groups: Younger patients with severe acne scars, middle-aged patients with wrinkles and age spots, and older patients with wrinkles, age spots, and precancerous lesions.

Can the microfractional CO2 Laser treat any skin color type?

Yes! The new Mixto Microfractional CO2 Laser technology we use works on darker skin tones. Traditional CO2 Lasers could not safely treat darker skin without the risk of lightening or darkening the skin. This makes the microfractional CO2 an ideal treatment for anyone who wants younger looking skin!

How long does the procedure take?

The procedure takes about 1.5 hours for a full face, which includes topical anesthetic cream.

We want you to have the best results possible. Many other medspas perform only one microfractional pass per treatment. We perform two microfractional laser passes with no additional charge making the benefits far more significant! We want you to be happy with your outcome!
